Islam is the religion of peace and The word “Islam” itself means “Submission to Allah.” The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of “Christianity” which was named after Jesus Christ, “Buddhism” after Gutama Buddha , “Marxism” after Karl Marx, and “Confucianism” after Confucius.
Similarly, Islam is not named after a tribe like “Judaism” after the tribe of Judah and “Hinduism” after the Hindus. The Arabic word “Islam” means the submission or surrender of one’s will to the will of the only true god worthy of worship, “Allah” (known as God “the Father” in Christianity).
And Mosks are the place where we do our prayers
“Whoever builds a Masjid, seeking Allah’s pleasure; Allah will build for him a similar place in Paradise.” (Al-Bukhari)

I think nubiennes should compare a few translation and use ur logic and u will see that everything are stated in Al-Quran .Islam are not spread through the world by sword but by words, but for me im more worried bout the people who “claimed” that they are doing it for Islam though

i think it is true that Islam is encourage terrorism or violance. eventhough i am a moeslem too but i also realized that Al-Quran has so many grey area which can make moeslem itself missunderstanding each other. and this happens to Injil, Taurat and so on. what is going on? should we blame the people that missunderstandin the Quran or the Quran itself? )

and anya, i suggest you to read Quran with the tafsir(interpretation) of this. you can compare it with such action that America and Israel do against muslim. which one is real terrorist? muslims or anti-muslims?
and i emphasize Islam respect all heavenly religions and all followers including muslims, Christians and Jews. you can refer to Quran, Surah Baqara(2), verse 285:

The Messenger (Muhammad) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allâh, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say, “We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers” – and they say, “We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all).”

and i should say when a person doesn’t understand Quran as well as he should, he will say such as dajjal said about terrorism in Islam. Islam encourage people to achieve peace in evry situation, even when kuffar (unbelievers) attacked to muslims, mostly the holy prophet (P.B.U.H) invited them to Islam and releasing the war. you can refer to Quran, Surah 5/32 that says:
If someone kills another person – unless it is in retaliation for someone else or for causing corruption in the earth – it is as if he had murdered all mankind. And if anyone gives life to another person, it is as if he had given life to all mankind. The instructions came to them with Clear Signs but even after that many of them committed outrages in the earth. (Quran, Surah 5, Verse 32)

America and Christianity are not congruent entities. Our system separates religion from state whereas Islam conflates them.

Unlike Muhammad, Jesus Christ neither sanctified, mandated nor exemplified Jihad, genocide & terrorism. Anya, I suggest that you read Surahs Al-Anfal, Al Taubah, Al-Azhab, Al-Fath & As-Saff. Follow up with Bukhari’s books of Jihad, Khumus & Expedition, all of which are available on line at USC-MSA’s Compendium of Islamic Texts. Further confirmation is to be found in Book 11, Ch. 234 of Riyad-us-Saliheen and Book O.9 of Reliance of the Traveler.

I should also mention that I know Christianity is NOT a violent religion and neither is Islam. It is people who have hate and violence in their hearts who give the religions a bad name.

I find it “funny” how if one who is Muslim (for example: a terrorist) condones violence on others they consider to be infidels and enemies Americans misconsture all of Islam as being a violent religion. But when, in America, a Christian condones war, torture, and the death sentence no one they don’t consider all of Christianity a violent religion.

It goes to show how much people don’t really think for themselves and examine the issues as a whole. Instead they buy into the ideas they are being spoonfed by the government and media.
